The Formula1 of Triathlon: Monaco Ironman 70.3


Zamora and Louison win in MonacoJust over 800 athletes from 42 countries enjoyed the cheers of 20,000 spectators at Monaco Ironman 70.3 today, which was won by Marcel Zamora and Alexandra Louison.

Swim: The outside temperature is 27°C, water temperature 24°C. The start took place at the Larvotto beach. The first man out of the water was Benjamin SANSON (FRA) in 00 :25 :53, followed by Thierry VERBINNEN (BEL) in 00 :26 :25 and Andrew FARGUS (GBR) in 00:26:26. For the women, it's Sibylle MATTER (SUI) who held the lead in 00 :28 :11, followed by Sione JONGSTRA (NED) in 00 :29 :53 and the Belgian Annabelle PIROTTE in 00 :31 :26.  Read the story »

About the Race

Qualifier for Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3Qualifier for Ford Ironman World ChampionshipThe start area, the transition area and the bike park are situated on the "plage du Larvotto", located at equal distance between the Grimaldi Forum and the Monte Carlo Beach Club-Hotel.

The bike course begins at Larvotto area- you ride 2 km in the Principality of Monaco in direction to Roquebrune Cap-Martin than to the hinterland. During the 90 km, you will discover the gorgeous and picturesque villages of Peille, l'Escarčne, Berre les Alpes, Contes, Drap, La Trinité, Laghet and La Turbie ; Each of them is an invitation to a journey into a colourful past.

Running will take you on a loop through Monaco of approximately 5 km, including the famous Tunnel known from Formula 1. Having done this coastal loop four times, you will find yourself running up the Avenue d'Ostende to the most exclusive Finishline on Avenue de Monte Carlo.

Watch as Andy Potts, a highly decorated athlete with short-course success, sprinted to a first place 3:42:33 finish, while Australia’s Mirinda Carfrae broke the course record and claimed victory finishing at 4:07:25.
