Ironman Announces Date and New Start Time For Boise 70.3
The date for the 2009 Ironman 70.3 Boise will be Saturday, June 13. Unique to other Ironman 70.3 races, the event will include a 2:00 p.m. MDT afternoon start in place of the traditional early-morning start time used in 2008.
"We are excited to offer this new start time to our athletes, as we feel it will further enhance the overall event experience," said Steve Meckfessel, Ironman 70.3 Events Director. While the pro field at Ironman Austria promises to be very competitive, another highlight from this year's race is likely to be Marc Herremans' attempt at a new handcycle world best for the Ironman distance at the race.
Herremans last raced in Klagenfurt as a professional in 2000. At the 2001 Ford Ironman World Championship he finished sixth, only to lose the use of his legs after a cycling accident a few months later. He returned to Kona in 2002 to compete in the handcycle division. Read the story »
